why would polish genetics be any different??? i think if you dont get that then you have a faulty gene because a blue gene is a blue gene isnt it???? or would the white crest have something to do with it?

That's what I was saying greencastle. I don't believe they have any different color genetics than any other breed, however I am not an expert on the breed and don't know if there are any outliers that would change the answer.

Speaking from blue genetics though,

blue x blue = 25% splash, 50% blue, 25% black offspring
black x blue = 50% blue, 50% black
splash x blue = 50% splash, 50% blue
splash x black = 100% blue

What colors did you cross and what colors did you wind up getting shay?

red cochin with black minorca, i get black with red laceings

White crested black polish with a golden laced polish- i get white crested black with the golden red laceings so far.

I have two white crested blue polish hens in with a white crested black rooster. I get mostly black, some white crested black and some white crested blue. I have also gotten just blue without the white crest. I have not gotten any splash out of their pen.

That would be why. Blue is actually the same as black, just presented differently. Here is a link to help explain it. It's from the "old" BYC:

The reason you had different colors is because the genetics for red and black are different.
