Fresh egg laid today..Is that white a worm or is it so fresh that's just the chalaza?

I knew someone who always pinched it out with the two halves of eggshell. I knew what it was from reading the book, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Chickens (But Didn't Know Who to Ask), but could not convince her it wasn't sperm. Even when I told her commercial hens never saw a rooster their whole lives.

O wow! No Roosters here just 12 ladies.

My mom claims the same thing "Rooster sperm! Eeewwww!" 🙄 Then again she still can't believe that hens are able to lay without a rooster around to mate them. Don't even get me started on everything she's been reading lately from someone on the internet and believes every single word. Her husband won't eat fresh eggs as he prefers his to be chemically cleaned an a dull yellowish yolk. We've come so far with the things we now know as facts. It's crazy how there's still so much more to learn.

So the chalazae starts to become less obvious as the egg ages? I have noticed it a lot lately but I've been eating very fresh eggs. This is what holds the yolk in place, right?

My apologies if this is a dumb question. My brain has already decided it's bedtime 🛌
