My chick-a-dees are 2 weeks old and "little yellow" is almost twice as big as the other girls.

Doesn't look like any EE's in that lot to me, but I might be wrong. I don't see any obvious males there.

If you're asking, is being larger a sign of gender, then no. If any gendered size difference exists in chicks, it's often the males being smaller than the females, but later on overtaking them after the onset of puberty.

Best wishes.

Thank you all. Little yellow is the only EE in the picture. I couldn't get the other EE's to stop chasing June bugs long enough to sit for a picture. They all came from MyPetChicken but it was a "grab bag" of brown egg layers and of course the EEs. I certainly had the size backwards then. Thank you all again!

this is a picture of "her" looking directly at the camera.

Bit too early to say for sure especially since the breed is not quite confirmed, but I don't see any male comb development there. Fingers crossed it's a pullet! Well, that is, if you aren't able to keep boys where you are. :)

Best wishes.

Thank you. Fingers crossed Little Yellow is a pullet. They are three weeks old now and LY looks almost a week older just because of the size difference. Except for feathering, in that regard "she" is the only one with down still on the top of both wings. Everyone else has "big girl feathers." Only time will tell. :)

Well, for what it's worth, chooks raised in warmer environments tend to feather a bit slower as there's less need to hurry, in my opinion and experience anyway. Regardless of gender or breed, environment does exert some small influence there.

So the incubator could be influencing development speed a bit. Some incubator raised chooks I've seen weren't even fully feathered by 6 months old! But that is a bit extreme an example.

Good luck. :)
