?is this baby sick?

I got a dozen chicks from the big r straight run bin last Sat. This particular chick seems to be growing at twice the rate of the other chicks, but is reluctant to walk. It is always lying down. It toddles over to the food and lays down to eat or drink. It's poop is ok, and it's feet and legs appears to be normally formed. Should I be worried? These are my first chicks so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

What kind did they tell you it was? Maybe it is a meaty??

Sounds like a meaty my SIL ended up with some of them by mistake and they grew much faster then the reg chicks.

They were not identified as any specific breeds. Just a straight run mish-mash. Big R people don't even know what they ordered. The order came from Privett. So, if it is a "meaty", does that mean "fast-growing boiler"? These birds were an unexpected "gift" from a "friend" I don't have the ability to eat anything I have hand raised, but I gather from this website he/she/it does not have a good life expectancy. SAD!

Yup, that is what it means...Some people have kept them alive and healthy. You cannot keep food out all the time. Do a search and you'll find lots of info. Good luck with your birds!
