I will try to answer this, If this is the pen they will stay in for 6 to 7 weeks (5 1/2 x 7 1/2)?? If so they should be fine, But the big pen that you keep them in as adults will need to bigger at least 8x20 run no smaller and bigger is always better, We always make our pens at least 10' wide to accommodate for the tail. The smallest pen we have for Trios is 10x10 barn with a 10x25 run and the biggest is 10x10 barn with a 10x45 run and we also have a pen with a 10x16 barn with a 25x65 run.

thanks for any in put we are going to pick up 2 more peachicks so this little one will have some friends she as been crying since yesterday looking for the other peachick that died.i will post pics when we get home he said they are blue indian but not black shoulder.

That peachick looks WAY to young to be outside, we don't even take ours out of the brooder house until they are about 2 1/2 to 3 months old then we put them in a 4 x 10 stand up pen (off the ground 3') for another month or two then if they are big enough they go to the grow out pen 25 x 45 (but we also put 25 to 30 on the ground at one time). But everyone has there own way of doing it, and my way is probably the wrong way ( But it has worked for 6 yrs for us, so we must be doing something right)

there not out side i had the door open to there coop an i put shavings on the floor to make it easier to clean up the poop.they are around 2 weeks old know so i will keep them in this room till sept 1st that will give them 10 weeks or so.

Looks like what you are making is a brooder, if so no need to be that large. Make a small brooder for the first 4 weeks ,then a pen like Steve is talking about . Mine are also about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. 30 in X 8 or 10 ft(wire size i use comes 30 in wide) In these untill 2 or 3 months old.

Lot like a rabbit hutch....

Then to the ground in grow out pens.

My pens are 10 ft X 30 ft. and 12 ft X 36 ft. 6 ft tall min.

When not breeding most are all pen together in a very large flight pen 14 ft tall.

Maybe we should reword that they should be in a brooder box first 4 weeks.

i have two young peafowl, one is white one is either a spaulding or java; they were born end of Mayish...I have them indoors but they are ready to go outside, being around 2 months. Will they need to be off the ground still? or can they be in a seperate little run, on the ground? And, do they need to be wormed before they go out? thanks so much for any advice!
