With my ducks that I hatched, it came so easy. They loved everything I did and even as they grew, got so excited when I got home, they’d run in for snuggles. But now I have Wesley, who I got when he was a week old. While he was so scared and needed me as a baby, we had to work through his teenage years of rebellion. I made him sit in my lap as I worked for at least a half hour a day, and soon enough, he’s come to be so friendly. That said, he’ll never love me like Loretta (my hatched egg) does. I’m her moon and stars. You are so lucky. My ducks will come over for treats, but once they realize there are no treats to be had, I'm persona non grata.

Yes, working from home might very well have something to do with it. I blame the ducks entirely for why I spend 13 hours a day trying to get in 8 hours—they are experts of distraction! I’ve heard chickens are harder to bond with, but, also that they are a lot easier to provide for and lovely all the same. Sometimes my ducks are far too needy, standing on my feet and quacking at the top of their lungs while I’m on a conference callHahah well maybe it's just that chickens and ducks are different? Not sure! Mine were all handled as chicks but some of them are very nervy. I would love nothing more than to stay home with my babies lol but someone has to pay for food!

So, to be clear, you soaked, use cream, and pulled off scab? You didn’t have to remove infection or wrap?Update on Puddles, the duck who started this post! I will attach. Picture of her foot today. I have soaked in Epsom salts twice a day ( which she loved!) for ten minutes and then applied Neosporin or Vetericyn. I put ACV in their food every morning and gave fresh herbs in water. Last night her scab felt loose and I prepared to pull it off and pull out the kernel. There was pink skin underneath, and it seems to be healing! BTW, I was never able to figure out how to wrap her foot. The neoprene bootie was a little bit big and got wet right away, so so didn’t leave that on for more than an afternoon.
