Both my roos and 3 of my hens have bumblefoot. 3 of them have it on both feet. We did surgery on 1 foot of 3 birds since we didn't know exactly what we were doing. None of the 3 had a kernel. They had small plugs attached to the scab, but no kernel. The 2 roos had a little pus in it, but the hen did not. The wounds are still swollen though and I don't think we got everything out. We squeezed hard for a few minutes, but couldn't get anything out. We got out all the yellow and black tissue. The pics are taken a few days after surgery. Sorry, I only got pics of the roos. The hen's looks a bit better than these guys. She's also more energetic and not limping. Does it look OK or do we need to try again? I don't think it looks good. Hope I'm wrong.

Could the swelling be from mashing the tissue. Are you doing any soaking in Epsom salt water since surgery? and are you keep this wrapped to prevent bacteria from getting back inside. Do you have any clear iodine? if not I'd get some and use a cotton ball or qtip and cover each place then wait a few days and see how it looks. You may need to try again but the clear iodine according to a fellow member says it will help bring the bumble to the surface.

That could be why it's swollen. I soaked them in salt once. I keep it wrapped and change it every 2-3 days. I clean it with peroxide and fill the wound with triple antibiotic cream. I use gauze and vet wrap. Last time we changed the wrap we put on blu kote so it's hard to tell what's going on, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

Only use peroxide once for initial cleaning out bacteria. You could continue soaking or use Epsom salt wraps. Then put the triple antibiotic cream on and wrap. Sometimes I have had to work on the foot again it just depends on how far along the bumble is. And if I get it ll out the first time.
