Hey, I need some help but for you to understand I need to tell you the whole story of how I got to this point...

Around a month ago, I went to go feed my ducks in the morning and when I went to open up their coop to let them out I noticed the Holly (the duck with the foot injury) was bleeding. Then I realized the her right foots webbing was completely gone and her toes were bleeding. This is what I think happened. I believe that insects got to her foot at night. Since ducks can't feel their webbing between their foot, she didn't realize that her webbing was being taken away from her.

I disinfected her foot, put triple antibiotic cream on her foot and bandaged it everyday.

After around 3 weeks the middle toe was the only issue left.

Now, the wound is completely closed but there is now a dark brown skin formed around the front and bottom of the toe. I'm worried that it is bumble foot. Or is it an infection or a healthy scab? Please help, I am new to raising ducks and I don't know if this is bumble foot. I've Googled bumble foot and they seem more scab like. The dark brown, just looks like skin on the toe, but the only concern is that it is dark brown and not what a normal toe color looks like.

Note that there is some sand on her foot because she was swimming in the lake.

Doesn’t look like bumble foot to me. If it was bumble foot it would look closer to a bump with a black scab in the middle.

Do you think it's a healthy scab? If so, will it become skin eventually? Why is it dark brown?

Can you soak the foot in epsom salt with warm water?

Looks to me like a nasty infection and she’s losing her foot because of it. You need to probably get a vet involved at this point. It’s gone too far and this can truly affect her ability to walk in the future.

Ok, do you think if I us antibiotic cream and hydrogen peroxide twice daily and with bandages it could go away?

I agree, doesn’t look like a bumble lesion. Looks like a healing amputated digit. But need more info. Was her toe completely gone when you saw her that morning? Do you have any pictures of the initial wound? Generally digits like toes will take longer to heal then a superficial wound, but if she’s getting around fine with no issues... how is she otherwise? Is she lame still? Is she otherwise normal or have their been other changes in her behaviour since?
Monitor for swelling, discharge, lethargy, the usual things that would indicate she’s got an infection.

Do they have access to a pond or body of water with turtles or larger fish? I’ve seen ducks lose toes/parts of feet from water dwelling critters...

Hydrogen peroxide isn’t good to use on a daily basis, it will ruin any healthy skin or repairs to the foot.

I would do epsom salt soaks every day then dry the foot and do the antibiotic ointment... IF it were the beginning of this. But this has gone on for so long that it’s already taken most of the foot. I wouldn’t honestly mess with it and I would find a vet. This is quite a serious matter.

Her toe wasn't completely gone that morning. But the front of her toe wasn't viable. There wasn't circulation in that area. We were able to save the middle of her toe though. She limps a little bit. She seems healthy expect the fact that she limps a little bit. Someone else said it was an infection? That worries me. Do you think it's true?

Ok, I'll soak it with Epsom salt. However, please note that its only on one of the toes and I've tried my best. I'm super new to this. Thank you for your help. If I Epsom Salt soak it, will the infected area heal? Or will it fall off and regrow healthy skin?
