I switched to a new food to me, for my hens for this winter. They really seem to like it pretty well, but I wonder if it contains enough calcium for them. They are all young laying hens. I Keep oyster shell available to them at all times. I really liked the protein level, especially for the winter months coming, and also, some of the hens are molting, one I would say is going through a hard molt and not growing her feathers back. Here is the Feed analysis

I think 28% protein is too high for chickens.
https://www.kalmbachfeeds.com/blogs/chickens/protein-can-you-have-too-much-of-a-good-thing#:~:text=However, if a bird is,you for choosing Kalmbach Feeds!

"However, if a bird is fed far too much protein for extended periods of time (i.e., months), then the stress of continuously digesting and excreting that excess nitrogen can have deleterious effects on the kidney function of that bird. In some cases, renal failure can occur."
What I have read is that once you get over 30-32% is where problems begin. I personally wouldn’t want to go above 24% though.

Thanks for all of your inputs, I appreciate it. I will certainly check out the links and information. I want what's best for the girls.
