I was playing with the chicks today and noticed this one chick has a pink spot below her ear. I was concerned, and took her out to look closer, and realized she has an almost identical spot on the other side in the same place. Is this a Barred Rock thing or something to do with feathering out? I haven't noticed it on any of the other chicks, but it's strange that there are two in the same spot. The chicks are definitely getting a bit crowded where they are, but I spend a lot of time watching them and have never seen them picking on each other. We're moving them to the bigger brooder this week, as soon as the older ones go out to the coop, so it won't be long before they will have a ton more space. Strange thing though is that this particular chick seems to be the boss. I'd be surprised if she was getting picked on, but of course it's possible. Is there anything I can/should do about it?
It was really hard to get a good picture. The spot is definitely more pink than it looks in this picture, but not red or raw.
