We recently had to help a quail chick that we hatched from a batch of eggs. We expected the same quails but this one looks....different.

I think that guy will favor Rosetta, but especially as it ages, you will probably notice some wild pattern bleeding thru, like cream spots in the stripe pattern down the back, or on the head. The eyebrows are characteristic of range pattern, but since it’s incompletely dominant, it’s not uncommon for wild pattern to bleed thru in mixed groups. I have a male that looked Rosetta until he was about 11 weeks old, and suddenly some wild markings appeared here and there, especially the spots making faint lines down his back.
