GlicksChicks
Crowing
This morning I went out to my coop to find 1/8 of my hen's chicks was lagging behind and hiding, so when I went to check it out and bring it back to it's mother, assuming it got lost in the movement of all the adults leaving the coop, I found that it wasn't putting weight on one foot.
The leg is not swollen anywhere, there are no cries of pain when I touch the leg or move it around. When I move it I feel a slight pop. Both of the legs feel identical when I feel them both.
Is it possible that someone stepped on it's foot and it is just babying it because it hurts to put weight on it, like people and dogs do sometimes?
The chick is seperated from it's mom for now and is in a brooder with some chicks it's size, maybe that will encourage it to walk. I was worried about it getting stepped on outside (they have an acre to roam with 29 chickens all day) or run behind and get chilled, it is not a very warm day today.
Any advice on what to do would be appreciated!
