Is this Cochin a boy or girl?

Our Cochin is at least 10-12 weeks old. Any guesses on whether he/she is a boy or girl? We are waiting to name him/her until we have a good idea of the gender. Thanks!!!

Huh. Looks like a pullet so far... I don't see any male hackle/sickle feathers as of yet. Cochins can be tricky sometimes.

You can name him/her a gender neutral name, that way you won't have to change it!

A large fowl Cochin at 10-12 weeks with comb & wattles that big and red indicates cockerel to me but I hope I am wrong.

Cockerel. I see darker shading through the wing, which almost always means male. Plus the comb and wattle are very red and developed, and Cochins are not an early developing breed. Most pullets don't get that red till they are 6 months or older.

Thanks for the input! We are hoping for a hen but if its a Rooster that would be okay too I guess. We have a very mixed flock and most are still adolescents that could be hens or roos. I think we have a dis-proportionally high percentage of roosters in the mix, so we may have to rehome some of them if that is the case. Oh well, we will just have to wait and see...

Looks much older than 10-12 weeks to me. And looks like a pullet to me.
