Is this coop raccoon proof?

why did they staple it like that 😭 I would add more staples as well.
I swear sometimes the people that design and build those prefab coops have never owned a bird. 🤦
I looked at so many of them myself that were so cute.. but for the price they wanted for them I just kept thinking.. that will fall apart in a year.
If my birds even survive a year in there.

Those are not raccoon proof, sad to say.
You could screw furring strips to place over the hc edges where all those staples are which would help. Hasps with locks would need to be added in addition to the slide locks but a raccoon peeled off the metal on the front of my garage door to get to chicken food. I have one of these and use it for daytime only.

I would not like how all of those Staples are at the top. looks to me like that would be easy for a critter to push hard enough to pull the ends of the hardware cloth out of the staples.
I would definitely go along and add some staples
Along the bottom of the boards as well.
Yes sounds good! Those ones like that could just slip out, it seems. Not all of the staples are only on the top wires, though. Maybe just some spot checking.

Yeah that's definitely something I'm thinking about. New, this coop is $460, but I got it for $60 because of more or less nonexistent "manufacturing defects." I might just try to resell it on Craigslist for $200 or $300.

Huh ok that's pretty intense!! I'm definitely leaning toward reselling it given all the input!

Does it at least have some ventilation or none at all?
Ducks need a lot of ventilation because their stool is so watery. Especially with it being kind of a small space anyway.

Oh and btw :welcome
Thanks! And yeah, that makes sense. I'll have to check again, but I don't think there's any in the top. Definitely leaning toward reselling it.

Definitely too small for 3 anything. The staples in that HC are a joke. I don't think they even tried. I've been around enough of these pre-fab coops to know how thin the wood is. A coon could probably punch straight through the wall lol.

Keep it for a quarantine coop. I never get rid of coops. Even if they are prefab. You can always modify and strengthen them if you plan on putting anything in it.

That is what I was just getting ready to say.
No for 60 bucks I would keep it. You can always use the nest box part for storage. the bottom would make a good play area for ducklings under supervision or for short periods of daytime.
Or like you said a quarantine coop.
I am always needing an extra pan to throw a rebel Drake in jail or something or another.

Exactly! You can always find a use for it at some point.
