I have a hen who has a somewhat hard crop, but it’s not rock hard and I can definitely squish it. In the morning, it felt empty but then I saw her consume some old rice bits which I didn’t spot earlier, or else I would have cleaned it up. Her crop then felt hard after this, but after I offered her water and massaged it a bit, the crop became a little squishier. When I squish the crop, the contents inside seem to go back in place once I let go of the crop. I have seen my hen do a yawning motion 4 times today, which I’m assuming is her adjusting her crop, but other then that she acts completely normal, she dust-bathed, ran around, and preened, did normal stuff. Her poop looks normal as well. I’m thinking to wait until tomorrow to check if her crop has emptied since she’s about to go sleep soon, but should I treat it now? I don’t have any medications or a vet so is there is natural way to treat it?

(I might be overreacting a bit and this may not even be a crop issue which I certainly hope is the case, I’ve never dealt with a crop issue before but even in the case that this is not a doughy crop, it wouldn’t hurt to know the treatment just in case it happens)

Compare with other chickens, I don't think there's a problem, check in the morning and update us.

(be careful when massaging the crop, it can cause the chicken to choke)

I dont know treatment, but honestly, your hen sounds ok.

Hopefully,
Arwoon

Thanks, she is asleep right now so I am going to update tomorrow. I sometimes have a habit of overreacting to simple problems so this may be just me overreacting again. I’ll see what I can do tomorrow.
