I'm a birdwatcher from South Africa and this Knob-billed Duck turned up at an urban lake here. Although they're native to the country, they're rare where I stay, I've seen many escaped waterfowl and guineafowl at this lake before and this male has been here for at least 5 years and so I'm beginning to wonder whether this is also an escaped bird. Can you tell from the photo whether it has been pinioned (the left primaries almost look like they're missing to me?)
