Is this EE chick considered “brown”?

Hi all, here's more shots as baby matures...still young, but I noticed yesterday that "she" is growing some reddish plumage on the wings. Depending upon the light, it looks redder or browner. Was wondering if this new coloring is considered "I'm a dude red" or just "a funny shade of brown on a girl"?

I am gonna have to go with "DUDE Red" . Still pretty!

I am very happy to see all these pics of once EE chicks and what they look like as adults. All the hens here are absolutely gorgeous. My chicks look very similar to the coloring of those hens when they were young. So It gives me hope my girls will grow into it. 😂

Sometimes I look at my babies and then at the absolutely stunning EE pics on the internet and I have my doubts they will get there. Don't tell them I said that of course, gotta keep their confidence up.

Thanks for images!

I’ve coined the color “Rooster Red” instead of “I’m a dude red”. Much catchier. ;-) Reddish color is coming in on chest and cape/hackle area too....looking more and more like we have a cockerel named “Mabel” by the minute. ;-)

The teen years are hard on all of us, chickens included! Here's some pics of my babies during their teen years to make you feel better about yours! (My speckled sussix literally had no tail until she was over 8 weeks old, the white crested polish was endless weeks of amusement and awkwardness and the Easter Egger and Olive Egger both did not have it easy either. You can see how funny it is for black feathers to grow in among white baby fluff on my Australorp too! ;-))
