Is this egg fertile?

I'm having an argument with my mum and she says it's not fertile. So I thought you lovely people might be able to help?

The egg is from one of my mums chickens and there are no roosters just a drake! They are outside but fully enclosed as there is a problem with foxes in the area. How is this possible?

It looks fertile to me, too! Is it possible that she has a roo that she thinks is a hen? It can be hard to tell with certain breeds like Polish frizzles. This is very interesting!

She has a few different chickens but they are all ones where you would know if it was a rooster. I have just asked her if all her hens lay eggs I will let you know her reply

A quick Google search tells me that there has been speculation about chicken/duck hybrids for many years. Although, much like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster, I feel confident that if it were possible, then we would know definitively by now!

I wonder if perhaps the drake can fertilise it but it would never develop?
