Don't worry, it is a common misconception that hens need a rooster to lay eggs. The fact is, hens lay eggs with or without a rooster. The eggs won't be fertile without a rooster, so if you want chicks from your eggs, you will need a rooster. If you just want eggs, you don't. Whether you have a rooster or not, whether the eggs are fertile or not, they can be eaten with no perceptible difference in nutritional quality or taste.
