My big lady here has difficulty opening her Left eye, was sleeping alone in the coop this morning after everyone else went out. No raspy breathing, and eating and drinking enthusiastically. Nobody else looks like they are having any issues. I have her separated in the hospital cage for now. She's a 7 months old, Bielfelder

This is my first ever sick bird and I am at a loss, there are no vets anywhere nearby or far that take chickens where I live.

I've never dealt with fowl pox. So I'm not sure. If it is it usually resolves on it's own from what I've read.

To me it looks more like an injury she has rubbed. If you have any plain antibiotic ointment without pain reliever you could dab that on it or even some vaseline to sooth it so she doesn't rub it. Or Terramycin ointment if you happen to have it.

It's good that she is eating and has plenty of energy!

Thank you! I'll keep her seperate until she heals then, she's very sweet and easily bullied so that's entirely possible

If it is peck marks, it may be better to keep her near her flock because removing her make reintegration harder. Can you get a better picture of the left side of her face? Have you seen mosquitoes out. Do any others have any scabs?

Always mosquitos as we live by a river. The other Bielfelder has some scabs on her comb but none of the others look like they have any changes. She also is the very bottom of the pecking order, always has been. The hospital cage is within sight of the other birds, and they can't touch.

I can get a better picture in the morning, but the scab bled today, and now looks like it's nearly gone and her eye is open
