I went out to get eggs and noticed one of my Golden Sex-Links comb looked whitish on the top with some black on it. Is this frostbite or something else? Do I need to worry? There are a few others that have it, but she has it the worst.
It looks like it. Here is another topic about it. Maybe that will help you. Yours does not look as bad as the one on the link below. I did read on here to put vasiline on the combs. I needed to do that to mine because the temp was down to -9 one night.
I don't believe you need to worry. When the ends of the comb or wattles turn black, then that is when the area has been frostbit. The white could be a much less severe case of frostbite or just a dry comb due to the weather or being in an arid enviroment. Either way it is still nothing to be worried about right now.
