Is this gold in my silver/black mix cockerel???

I decided to keep this guy since he had the best top line and tail set; his color has not changed alot since the picture. He just has those darker areas on the tops of the wings.

I have hatched six chicks with the correct chipmunk down color out of him and the silver females. There are five females and one male chicks. They are all silver.

The females are very dark though, the breast color is not quite salmon but a deep mahogany color. The male appears to be feathering out like a typical silver male at this point.

I did, however, get a gold chick out of my lavender split birds. It was quite odd and she is going to a new home today. So, I can tell the difference between a silver chick and a gold one, it's subtle difference when they first hatch and by the time they are a couple weeks old, it is very noticeable.

To reply on the beetle green sheen thought; I know my black birds are birchen in their DNA and never have a problem with green sheen.
