Is this guy show quality? (RIR)

This was my first rooster, Earl. He was a real sweety to the ladies but we had to get rid of him due to over "loving". Lately i have noticed all the bad rep hatchery birds get, so i was wondering if he actually was a good quality boy. He seems really dark to me. I thought i'd ask the experts.

He looks a little light in color to me but I am no expert.

is it the picture or does he naturally have a really shiny coat of feathers

His feathers were naturally really shiny. I thought that was just because he was a rooster.

Although your Roo is a very handsome Boy. His color is not right for show. Here is a picture of a show bird that I used to show when I had RIR's

I want to put Don up next to your rooster to compare. He is a hatchery bird but Ive thought him and his RIR girls look dark. He is shiny it was a cloudy day I took the pic.

I'm not an expert by any means, but the birds I saw at show were
1. Deeper red
2. had longer, fuller tail feathers (like Chef's bird!

)
3. were HUGE!!!

While he is a handsome roo, he looks more like a production red.
