This chick has made a bigger hole instead of unzipping and hatching like everyone else. The membrane seems to be kinda brown. Is he probably stuck?

This is my first hatch. The humidity now that so many chicks have hatched is around 85%

Is he out yet, @Hssnider73 ? The membrane does look dry. Do you see any yawning motions?

i doubt if its stuck .. more likely absorbing some more yolk .. it can breath, i wouldnt get worried until ~36 hours have passed ... after that you could pop the top off the egg above the air pocket line but i still wouldnt touch the inner membrane ..

no he isn’t out yet. And I can’t really see him. The other 13 in that little pen keep rolling him around and he’s under the fan right now. 🤞🏻 He makes it. Last I saw him I didn’t notice any movement. This is my first hatch and I didn’t feel comfortable opening it up to help him yet. 😢

Good luck with the chick. My fingers are crossed too. I'd read the guide to assisted hatching (again) just in case, be prepared. It's be okay to remove the hatched chicks and put some coconut oil on the dry membrane, listen for peeps... bump your humidity with some hot water.

I think you should help last time I leave my in same situation and he finally get out after 1 day of fighting but he hatched week with swollen legs and he was letargic I do my best but he died after two days I think you should help hime but only if everything is dry , tru with small breaking shell and when you see blood you must stop if you see blod

He was still moving last night so I helped him by lightly cracking a little more shell hoping he’d make it out last night. He didn’t so I assisted this morning and me made it out. Had some membrane dried on him so after he dried a little I took a warm wash cloth and loosened it off and put him back in incubator to fluff up. I don’t have high hopes he will make it but it’s better than letting him die in shell 🤷🏼‍♀️
