Is this just molting???

This is one of my friends chickens and she sent me a picture asking if she was sick. I’m pretty sure it’s molting, but I told her I would check with the professionals first. Thank you in advance for all help!

Looks like molting to me, and yes, it's that time of year. Several of mine look just as bad!

My oldest chickens are only about 18 months old. I've found a lot of small feathers under their roost in the last week but I don't see any bald spots.

Could that be molting too? Meanwhile, the older girls keep laying...

That is a massive full blown molt.

@IamRainey, yes that could also be a molt. Some birds lose and replace a few feathers at a time.

Yes, very likely. There don't have to be bald spots. Molting takes many forms...
