We got this White Leghorn at the local feed store and were told that it was a hen. Her comb has gotten quite big recently, and she is pretty noisy. No crowing, but she's always squawking. We're hoping she's not a rooster because we can't keep roosters where we live, but we're starting to worry.

This is a picture of her at 17.5 weeks. What do you think?

looks like a pullet do you have any recent pics?? the combs on leghorns grow really quick on both sexs it could still be a cockerel

I just took the photo 2 days ago. Our red sex link started laying 4 days ago, but still no white eggs, so that's when I really started worrying. I hope you're right. We really want to keep this one. She is full of personality.

Pullet! A cockerel would have sickle/hackle/saddle feathers by now

Yeah a pullet for sure also pullets and hens sqawk my rhode island red crows sometimes but she layeseggs she's 4 now but she's a pullet and remember red sex links lay like CRAZY white leghorns lay around 19 to 22 weeks so keep looking i'm sure you will find one within 1 to 4 weeks some birds take longer to lay than others it all depends on the bird

Do you happen to know when RIRs start laying? Ours turned 4 months today and we can hardly wait for our first egg.
