Is this lighter Sapphire Gem chick a Roo?

Mine were posturing early on, establishing pecking order...time will tell. Found out there is no code against roosters, just a limit of 12 poultry. See Chicken Math article, if you haven't already.
Thank you! Good to know about the posturing!

Bill at about 15 weeks old now and huge! Finally getting a tail, it's been very slow to come in. We are happy we accidentally ended up with this guy.

He has turned out quite nicely! I am glad you are able to keep him and WANT to.
So many oopsters end up where folks simply CANNOT have rooster.

Ha, ha, @About15chickens . Your Bill got his headgear before tail, mine has a curled tail and not as big headgear. 14 wks. tomorrow.
Yes he did! His head gear kinda went wide open before the rest of him caught up 😂. He's still working on his tail now at 20 weeks. It's just now starting to have a curl.

We love this guy! He's starting to intimidate me a little with his size and fierce look but so far he's still kind of friendly. He gets lots of treats so I hope he continues to see me as "Treat Bringer" 😂

Bill around 20 weeks old now. We never really expected his headgear to be quite so substantial 😆

Adding a couple pictures of the girls for comparison. One has a large floppy comb, Nora. She's been laying for 2 weeks now. The other one's comb and wattles still haven't come in, Mara. She's at the bottom of the pecking order, and I just recently realized they weren't letting her eat. So she's been getting fed separately for a several days now and her face is getting some red in it.

At 19 wks. He has a full set of headgear, and the attitude to go along with it. He is growing his sparsely populated tail in, a few more curls there. Been getting mostly fertilized eggs ( there is still a Welsummer that he cannot catch yet, just broody broke her today). He gets pinned down if he tries to attack any human ( if we can get him, he's quick!) He is sure a proud one.
