Is this molting?

My red production has a spot on her chest that is missing feathers and now one of my Buffs is doing the same thing but not as bad is this molting? I’m still semi new to chickens have zero experience with this.

Could be molt, some birds jettison feathers from the most unusual locations. If you can part the feathers there a bit you can see if there's pinfeathers underneath, which is new feathers growing in to replace the old.

How old are they, in weeks or months?
Are there a lot of feathers lying around?
Looks more like 'wear'(rubbing against something) than molting.

She is actually 14 months old and I have another on with the same spot but not as large. So maybe there is something I the coop they are rubbing against.

My Rhode Island Red has a thin spot like that on her chest too (just not quite as large). She’s had it forever though.
