Is this moulting? or something else?

I've only had chickens for about a year and a half and I've never seen moulting. Is the picture below moulting or something else? She's been a little withdrawn and I'm hoping she's not sick.

Assuming this chick acts and looks healthy otherwise. I would suggest you examine for evidence of mites or lice and if you find none, I would suspect you have a feather picker.

Feather loss isn't egg binding, but she could have 2 different issues. Those with egg binding usually look and act sick. Check out the learning articles on egg binding or post a new thread with a question could this be egg binding, and you'll likely get experienced opinions.

If that featherless area is swollen she may be developing ascites, fluid buildup in the body cavities. Has she been a regular layer? It could also be internal laying.

She started laying about 4-5 weeks ago. She doesn't seem to be s regular layer at all. Golden laced
