Is this normal egg laying behavior??

We got our first egg, or eggs. The hens were all born around the beginning of May 2021 so they all are about 5 months old give or take a week. I went into the coop yesterday morning and found two eggs in the poop tray right below the roosting bar. I'm not sure which one laid them, but what was weird is that there were two of eggs in the exact same place (no hard shell, just membrane) and stuck together right next to each other. They were two separate full size eggs. I'm pretty sure that they must have been laid by the same hen because usually once they are on the roost bar for the night, they don't switch places. Is it possible for the same chicken to lay two eggs one right after the other? Both eggs had no hard shell on them, just the membrane and one was broken and one was intact but they were kind of stuck together (I'm not sure if that is because one of them broke and the albumen glued itself to the other egg). Very curious.

Also, will they kind of figure out how to use the nesting boxes? The boxes have been prepped and open for them for about 2-3 weeks now (I had them covered up while they were younger so they wouldn't roost in them, and yes they are lower than the roost bar).

Thanks for any insight in this weird matter.

Adding the picture of what we walked into in the coop. Sorry about the poop!! 😂

Not unusual for new layers to pop out a few softshelled eggs.
They usually stop that once they get the system all tuned in(within in a month or so).

Are the nests easy to access?
Have you seen them looking into them at all?
A fake egg or golf ball in each nest can help show them where.
Pics of nests might help us help you.

The nest boxes are very easy to access. They all were checking them out the other day when I added some fresh mint and lavender to them. I did have golf balls in the nesting boxes until about a week ago when hubby wanted to go golfing! 🤣🤣 B5688682-F87F-4579-B1BE-970DBCA74C2E.jpeg

As cute as those are, they may not be very functional.
Good to have a front lip on the nest to hold in bedding and eggs(both fake and real).

Surely he could spare a couple.
