I have a one year old Speckled Sussex who's been moulting for the last week or so, but the feather loss has kicked into high gear over the last couple days, with feathers all over the coop and her tail falling out today.
She's spending a lot of time hunched up in the sun looking miserable, but still preening on and off and interacting with her flock mates when they come by. She still gobbles up mealworms and treats too, but doesn't come running like usual, and isn't doing much foraging.
Does this sound pretty normal for a hard moult? It's the right season for her feathers to be falling out, so that doesn't concern me so much, but the hunching and being sleepy is worrying me...
Here are a couple potato quality photos of her from today (she's the one missing her tail heh).
