Is this normal for chicks when feathering out?

I'm a fist time chicken owner and this is one of daughters silkies. Idk if this is just how silkies look as they are growing or if something is wrong. None of the other breeds of chicks have this around the feathers on their beaks

Are you talking about the discoloration on her crest feathers? I wouldn't say it is normal specifically for Silkies, but it can happen with any white bird. They simply get dirty.
