So one of my girls has been a little under the weather. I noticed today she was bending over to eat some food and water came out. That was the first time I saw that happen. I think she had just d rank some water. The water looked clear. After this happened she kept eating like it was normal..... Is this normal? Does/can this happen sometimes?

She has been having issues since she started molting. She got better and now she's not doing well again. I think her leg hurts maybe sprain but no bumblefoot or other visible issues. When there are treats she runs and pecks the lower girls to tell them who is boss, she dust baths and purrs and eats like all the other girls. I haven't been able to figure it out and it's driving me crazy.

She has plenty of water access but maybe she doesn't like to move since she limps a bit and overdrank????

Yeah probably, do you notice her eyes squinting, or if she lays down a lot? These are signs of illness. I’ve had a chicken show those two signs and water also came from her mouth. I had no idea what it was, tried treating her, but sadly she died. I also have had a couple chickens just have water come from their mouth, almost like they tried throwing it up, they didn’t show any other signs and lived a full life.

Eyes not squinting but she is sitting a lot. But bring out anything interesting she runs like crazy towards you. She limps though so I am just crossing my fingers.... Then I saw the water and it freaked me out.

Ok, yeah I can see why your concerned, I’m not sure if she’s ill. How old is she?

Oh ok, so she’s not that old. It’s probably unlikely she is ill. She’s probably extra tired with her leg being the way it is. I don’t think anything’s wrong with her from my own experiences, but I’d keep an eye on her. If she keeps spitting out water everyday then I’d take her to see a vet.
