5 of my eggs have hatched and been out of the bator since Friday afternoon, I have 2 more eggs that have pipped and been at it for over 36 hours, 1 of the eggs where the pip is has 2 toes sticking out of it but no beak and has for about 24 hours, it is making alot of noise and moving the toes alot but no more of the egg has pipped, is this normal?

I CERTAINLY DO NOT KNOW, but I know I'd be "tempted" to help the chick out.

PROBABLY A "WRONG thing to do.........?

I wonder, also.

I don't know with chicks, but I have helped a duckling out before. I moistened the area with a Q-tip and pulled away the shell that was not attached to the duckling or membrane. There are people that are more experienced than me here though. I have read that if you pull off shell and there is bleeding that you need to stop. I think it is important to keep things moist as the membrane dries out and then the duck can't get out. Good luck!!!

When you opened the incubator to remove the other chicks you may have let enough humidity escape that the later chicks are shrink wrapped and stuck in the shells.

i would help the chick out. 24 hours is long enough from pip to zip. It may have gotten itself into a position where it can't peck through the shell. And like Katy said, the membrane may have toughened to where it can't peck through it.

I agree: help the baby out. Peer into the hole, lift the membrane slightly, and if there are no active blood vessels, go for it. Try to break holes in the way the chick would, and allow him to kick himself out if at all possible, after the top has been removed.
