Is this normal?

Hey, so I’m new to all of this. I just wanted to see if this is considered normal behavior. my chick sometimes will stand still and kinda like drop his head as if he were like bobbing his head then the chick will lose its balance and almost fall backwards. I’m not sure if that normal or if I should be worried? The chick is about a day old. I’m guessing that the chick is tired and that’s why it keeps dropping his head and losing his balance but I’m not sure. Any advice or help of any kind who be appreciated. P.S. sadly he was the only one to hatch out of the batch, any tips on how to raise it until it’s old enough to join the flock?

Just try your BEST, and provide feed and clean water.

It sounds like they could be either really weak or actually have some sort of neurological issue going on. Have you tried using the chicken symptom checker tool?

I tried to use it, but every time I put in the symptoms. It gives me a weird response. Maybe I’m reading it wrong or maybe the site doesn’t work on mobile devices. I provided an image below

Welcome to BYC. Some newly hatched chicks will do this as they are falling asleep. If it is eating/drinking/running around, I would just monitor the situation.

Sadly the chick passed away this morning. I put sugar in the water didn’t help. I separated the chick as well. I guess you can’t save them all. Thank you for your help. This is the most friendly community I have met. Glad to be a part of it
