Is this normal?

My chicken is 10months and I notice at the base of her comb this strange looking area.

I'm not sure about when they begin molting and if this could be related?? I have 10 chickens and 4 had poop butts last week. I trimmed them and all is good but this picture need input from someone who knows more than me. Thank you.

Do you have any roosters? Or does the dominant hen mount the subordinate girls?

I have a couple who have lost feathers on their heads where the rooster holds on while mating.
No roosters and don't see aggression between the girls. They fuss at each other but no fighting. I have a camera and no one is picking on anyone.
 
I would not worry about it, she may have rubbed it against something, or itched it with her foot, or stuck her head in something. It does not look inflamed, or irritated. Things do happen.

She could be going thru a partial molt, some pullets do that their first fall/winter.
If you see pin feathers coming is, then its a molt.
