I have 8 hens and a coop that has built in 6 nesting boxes. The coop can hold many more chickens but I'm building up to a larger flock. However it seems that most of my girls like to lay in only one box. I may get one or 2 in one other box, but its those 2 boxes that they use. And just this week, twice I found an egg out in run.
So is it normal for them to like only one or two boxes? I'm not going to worry about the eggs out in the run, but should I discourage egg laying in one box?

    Like Rooster-Red said, totally normal.
I have 9 hens with 4 boxes but they all use the same one.
    (It gets crowded some mornings.)
