Okay, so I cracked open an EE egg that was to thick for me to see into. I have like 6 other fertile eggs on my first hatch and they are growing:) When I opened it... there was a big black thing, and I think there was an yoke in it. As I looked closer at the black thing, I noticed that it was fuzzy, and then it moved!!! My mom freaked out because she was totally grossed out because it was bloody and yellow and nasty. I have a few pictures on this site: https://picasaweb.google.com/115431...&authkey=Gv1sRgCJucyc_GzuCLaw&feat=directlink

Can you tell me if this is normal?

If the slight brown color in the yoke and the veins covering it, is normal. Sorry, this is my first time incubating.

It is weird because I only had the egg in the incubator for 5 days... so maybe it started to form while it was in the nesting box, without a hen sitting on it??

Well it looks like an embryo, but I don't see why there is so much blood? It doesn't look ideally normal to me.Perhaps something went wrong.......
Good luck with the rest of your eggs

Thank you! Do you know why it was so far ahead because I only had it in there for 5 days and someone said that it looked to be 10 days or so?? Anyone???

It could be around 5 days. I was only guessing by the size. It's hard to tell from the picture. The embryo does look to be normal. Is there a particular reason that you opened the egg?

She said it was because the egg was too thick to see into. ??? Maybe when she was candling.

In the future you may just want to leave it and wait the full time. Worst case, it dosen't hatch and you can check it then or just toss it.
