My 4 yr old tom has alot of large silver-white scales on his legs.
No signs of irritation, sores, itching.
Are these normal scales ?

sorry no one has replied I really don't know the answer but my guess would be if it wasn't there before, it's probably mites

I have never seen anything like this before and I tried to look it up but found nothing. I hope someone else here can be more helpful.

Ok. I had to re-read what you wrote. You're not talking about the lining but in fact asking about the "scales" right?

Do the scales look like this? Your pic is not large enough for me to really see. If so, your turkey has mites. You can use Sevin Dust on him.

No, his legs don't look like that pic. His legs are not lumpy at all,
not raised, separated scales. He just has some patches of shiny white scales.
I checked him today and some of the largest white
scale patches are gone. I guess they are dead, dry scales
that are being shed. Where they were looks healthy pink-red now.
Reminds me of how a reptile grows and sheds his skin.
He's not picking at his legs or feet; struts around as usual.
But I'll treat for bugs if his legs don't return to a healthy pink all over.
Thanks.

Gotcha. Yes, Scrambled8 is right. It's dry skin. My turkeys get that and I hate seeing it. I just catch them and peel it off and lotion up their legs with olive oil and they are good to go.
