Just got this girl yesterday as a BFF (sometimes you have to buy your friends I suppose) for our turkey, Petunia. Petunia originally started as Thanksgiving dinner but quickly won my heart; I'll make a bad farmer; more like an animal rescue center. Anyway, I have renamed them 'Pete' and 'Repeat'. Last night I found Repeat (new girl) up roosting with my layers. I was quite surprised. Pete sleeps on the floor of the coop, which is 50' long and 25' wide.....quite large enough for everyone. Wondering if this is normal? These are my 1st turkeys.

perfectly normal for turkeys to roost.

In the wild, turkeys fly up to branches in the trees. its in their nature to roost.

what breeds are they???

My question is this...how do you keep the inside of your coop so clean? My gosh...mine looks positively horrible compared to yours. I think I would sleep in yours if I had to...

The Tom being on the floor maybe by the size you gave maybe he is to heavy to get up on the roost depending on the height of the roost from the floor he may need a roost closer to the ground say 2 feet or so.
all birds like to roost.
What breed are they if they are Brod breasted production breed you may want to watch there feed intake or they will be short lived they will eat them selves to death...if there Holland whites then there is not a problem.
Your right they can get under your skin I think they have more personality than chickens do.
