This chick is 3 weeks old as of yesterday. I have 2 from the snowie hatch that are tinted orange, and have more black patterning than the other Italians. I’m wondering if this is what single factor fee looks like on autumn amber, or if this is pansy fee, or something else. If it helps I can take a comparison pic of the Italians, manchurians, and this oddball all together to see the pattern difference.

I’ve been out of the quail loop for a bit, but I believe Italian and pansy are 2 distinct, different genes, however, since Italian is incompletely dominant, it can bleed out over several generations, affecting the patterns of the various offspring. So if you crossed a pansy to a manchurian, you’ll get a crazy variety with the majority falling somewhat in the middle looking like pansies.

Previously I’ve heard of different varieties of “pansy”, with some people selling actual pansies and some people selling mishmosh Italians as pansies. But I haven’t kept up on quail so I’m not certain if that’s still relevant.
