I have three silkies, five and a half months old. The last couple of days I told hubby I thought one of them was going to start laying soon. She was acting "off." Today I went to the silkie coop and found three eggs! I know they were not there yesterday. The weird thing is one is huge and the other two tiny. I cracked them all and the tiny ones have tiny yolks and the big one has a normal looking yolk. Al three had watery whites. I washed them because the tiny ones were blood stained.

Is it possible that three silkies start laying on the same day and one lays an egg two and a half times bigger? They were all the same slightly pink tinted in shell color. The shell on the big one was very thin.

Am I crazy, blind or both?

Here they are!

Wow, very interesting. It would be some coincidence if they all laid their first egg on the same day, wouldn't it?
I have a 9 mo old Silkie who isn't laying yet; I'd love to see her lay three in one day, she owes me!

I dont know for sure, but the big one looks big to be a first egg. i might be wrong though. even after a year, i still get small eggs sometimes and really big eggs sometimes.

i dont know about everyone starting on the same day, id just call that lucky! but my silkies just did that the other day,2 normal egga and one gaint. i thought,do silkies lay double yokers, but it was a single. idk i quess they even have off days!
