Is this really a barred rock?

Thanks for your responses!

Seeing him in person and not by internet photos, i am sure that my Zebu is a boy. I will be in shock if he is a she.

His legs do not look suspicious in person either. They are yellow with the shading like a barred rock.

It's mainly the barring, or lack thereof, that made me suspicious.

It shocks and appalls me that hatcheries would sell mutts, so i am going to assume he is a black sexlink.

It annoys me more, however, that the feed store person would order a straight run (i just found this out) and claim to be able to i.d. chicks she clearly can't i.d. I'm not sure anyone could've differentiated between this and a real barred rock at one day or 3 days or whatever. I know i couldn't. I think she made some assumptions about what the possibilities were, and i made a mistake by not getting more information about where these chicks came from.

Lesson learned, i guess.

Poor Zebu. I really like him.

Rooster#3 :

our black sex links dont have any white at all...

You probably got all females. The males are the ones that show the white barring like their mothers.

Maybe you can still keep "him" if (she)he turns out to be a "he". A roo with a good personality is hard to find.

Just found this thread, yes I do have a Dark BR Rooster.

I can't remember exactly how old he is here.

alabama ee, i already have two roosters, who are the breeds i need and want. i got zebu because i wanted to produce more barred rock babies. i'm afraid he will have to go to make room for the real zebu.
