I haven't seen any BSL pictures that are this brown...anyone know if it's normal variance of maybe something else?
She was a dark brown fuzzy chick, too.

Well my BSL ladies turned out having a lot of Buff on them too, not so much black.
5ish weeks:

5ish months: she is front row, on the right.

Wow, didn't know they could be that buff. Guess that's the fun of mutts!

I really like that coloring of yours!

Pretty much any solid (non-white) dad will work, over a barred hen. I didn't know either until someone on here told me that my Buff Orpington x Barred Rock "mutts" were really black sexlinks! I was really glad! Everyone thinks that a black sexlink always has a red father, but it's just not true.
I think they are BEAUTIFUL and I wish I had a dozen of them instead of just 2!

This one is particularly sweet...about 90% of my 2.5 year old son's chicken holding time is with this one. Often backwards, but she just hangs out.

Our other one is the more typical black with some brown edged feathers around the neck/chest.
