Any guesses on this chicken breed? She’s 6 months old and has just started laying. She came from Tractor Supply (Hoover’s Hatchery). I really thought she was going to be the olive egger I asked for, but she’s laying tan eggs. I’ve recently read that Hoover’s Olive Eggers have about a 50% or greater chance of being brown layers. So I’m wondering if that’s the case, or maybe she’s a different “breed” altogether. She sort of looks like pictures I’ve seen of Production Reds. Any ideas?

I believe even oliver eggers have a chance of laying brown. There are a few genetics threads on here that explain how it happens. It deals with the parents being carriers of brown and the offspring getting both browns.

I don't think she's a "breed" but a hybrid of some sort. Could be a Olive Egger or another type.
Hoovers sells a lot of hybrids and for the most part they have no idea what they're doing as far as genetics.
