Olive Egger laying brown eggs?

Was the hen already laying when you bought it? If not, the seller could not guarantee what color egg the hen would lay. Even an Easter Egger may lay a brown egg.

Yes she was already laying. I assumed she wasn’t being intentionally deceptive and just had no way of knowing which eggs she was laying.

All the more reason to disclose to the buyer that the hen might lay a brown egg, despite being an "olive egger".

Not everyone knows that, it's not conmon knowledge.

I suppose that may be true. I assumed if someone is selling an olive egger, they ought to know something about olive eggers (especially a year old bird that's already laying). You're right, though, it's probably best to give the benefit of the doubt. I guess I'm just cynical these days.
