I bought this chicken a couple weeks ago. Is it really a silkie?? She said it could be molted, mauve, or cuckoo possibly. I am just curious. I love it either way.

Hi! Very cute!

It looks like a silkie. Does it have five toes?

Due to the mottled feet, I'd say perhaps mottled, but my mottled have huge blotches of white on brown or black. I'd be guessing perhaps a mauve, but maybe has a mottled gene or some mottled could come out as it grows.

Right now I am seeing a blue satin silkie with the extended black gene that gives them the “penguin” markings, including the pink toes. Those chicks end up losing the white wingtips etc when they get in their adult feathers. There is a possibility that it could also be mottled/cuckoo but if it is, it doesn’t seem to be showing it yet in the feathers coming in.
