Is this RIR a hen of a roo?

She (?) is 9 weeks old in this picture. She's not crowing just reacting to the camera.

My RIR's will be 5 weeks old on Saturday and have huge red combs already. I'm pretty sure yours is a hen.

At 9 weeks old and still with such a small comb, I'd say hen. The comb is also still yellowish in color; most roosters would have a bright red comb by that age.

I have six RIR hens who are also nine weeks old and they look exactly like yours. I believe you have a hen.

Yep, that's a pullet! I started with 12 RIR and 1 started developed remarkably differently about 5 or 6 weeks in. He has a much more developed comb and wattle and his coloring is slightly different (darker twinge around the neck, etc). They all looked the same up to that point, but after that it was irrefutable!
