It's the breed that confuses me. I still think boy but that breed seems to get comb and wattle development early.

Yeah, the crowing or crowing like thing it did, was what is making me more sure. He was only intimidating 2 specific girls (both bared rocks) when they came down from the sill he would go chase them until they either flew back to the sill or in my arms. He's got no problem with the other girls or the other roo... And is happy to be picked up and pet... It's confusing.

He seems to be missing feathers on the sides of his face. Does he stick his head through those bars a lot?

No, he's always looked like that. They have all been in a coop the past couple of weeks and all the holes are 1/2 inch, so not sure why.

One more question for you wonderful people... We separated him from the others, which seems to have made him sad, but we are worried about the other girls and potentially when the other rooster ends up getting more developed (he's a Black Langshan and still developing, is the least feathered of the group and his comb is still pretty small) and we don't want them to fight. They're currently in an 8x8 coop and we are renovating the run to be predator proof (it's a 10x12 covered area). Should we keep them separated or should we let them work it out? Or does he need a new home...?

I recommend giving him away. You already have a male and far to few females for 2 males.

Sending him to a new home will save you a lot of headaches and your females will be a lot better off without 2 males hassling them.

Unless you plan on getting more females, you cant keep both.
