I have a frizzled satin silkie chick that is sprouting feathers and has a cute pattern - white on the tips of the feather and dark gray in the middle. I know it’s super early to tell (chick is almost 2 weeks old) but just wondering if anyone has seen this pattern in a chick before? When I look up silver lacing it appears to be black tips on white feathers, which is kind of the opposite of this - but maybe this will turn into that? Thanks for any insight!

Can we see an updated photo of this cutie?
I’m so sorry I am just now seeing this, many months later! Here are pics of the two girls all grown up. They have the same mother, not sure about father, but they are pretty similar to each other. One has more gray and a softer looking tail, and one has more black and her tail is more pointy.

I believe the photo of the chick above is the hen with the more gray softer tail. I’m not sure if either of them would be considered laced - they came from a laced project pen. They are cute though, I really enjoy having them around. I am wondering what color they would produce if bred to a black silkie 🤔 or what color laced birds should be bred to?

They are very pretty birds!

I don't know much about technical color terms, but I do know that some of the laced colors are named opposite of what they are.
That could very well be how lacing appears on silkies. Not sure what it is called when the white is the actual lace, since saying something is silver laced is white with black tips on a standard bird.
